No need to speculate. Buffett bought COP shares in 2005-08. He sold them all by 2014.
One fund(oakmark) manager I follow, Bill Nygren, has COP as one of his top holdings. If he likes it, itâs worth taking a look at. The two best oil companies are xom and cvx though. Best in the world, proven track record, and they usually hire the best talent in âŚ
Opinions on COP Buffett seemed to like OXY, and COP on paper, from what i've seen has equivalent/slightly better financials than OXY. COP is also hanging out at its 200day EMA and lagging behind others in the sector like XOM and BP in terms of YTD returns. Looks like COP âŚ
